What can one expect from a place called “Coast of the Gods“? Crystal clear turquise water, uncontaminated beaches, unique landscapes, a world at the limit of the fantastic in which the blue of the sea blends with that of the sky. Tropea and Capo Vaticano are just two of the most famous towns on the 55km long coastline made of suggestive views overlooking the wonderful panorama of the Aeolian Islands.
Joppolo is one of the municipalities within this territory; from a geographic perspective, it is embedded on a slope, halfway between sea and mountain and crossed by winding roads where, among a spectacular succession of roofs, appear numerous sacred buildings.
Just here, at the beginning of the village – after leaving the provincial road and going along for a few meters on a side street – we come across the property. On the highest part of the hill, which is part of the land – which is about 800 sqm in size and made of 5 terraced plots to counter the slope – we find the house, a two storey building immersed in a rich Mediterranean vegetation made of indias figs, mandarin oranges and lemons, surrounded by a rich vegetable garden with tomatoes, onions, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, mustard, kohlrabi, turnips and radishes, radicchio, horseradish, watercress and turnip rape… the list is never ending.
The house develops on a total surface of about 90 sqm, where on the ground floor there are two rooms and a large veranda, and on the first floor four more rooms and a large terrace facing the house from where the the blue hues of the sea can be admired.
Structurally, the building is in a discrete – medium to low – condition, meaning that restructuring is quantifiable in the order of 30 to 50 thousand euros, which can change depending on the degree of finishing and the final result to be obtained. The plot of land is located in an urbanized area and therefore has connections to the water, sewage and electricity network, it is also indicated, from the existing regulator plan in force, in a building area, stating that it is possible to expand the existing structure.
With a little creativity, surely helped by the context in which it is inserted, it is not difficult to imagine the end result that can be obtained. In one of the most beautiful seaside areas in Italy with a mild climate all year round, a magical place to spend your summer vacations, but also a place where you can take refuge throughout the year it can not be that hard to find happiness. And it is not any kind of happiness: it is about finding the peace and serenity of living in the middle of the nature, suspended just halfway between the sky and the sea.
