For our visit today, an appointment for breakfast at the Baths of Marina di Castagneto, already because we have to enjoy this beautiful sunny day with all the nuances that these enchanting places can give us. I love walking around these hills by motorbike, but for this day there is nothing better than a convertible to be able to chat listening to good music while among olive trees, oleanders and ancient stone walls we reach the property which is only 9km from the beaches of the Costa degli Etruscans.
Once through one of the two access gates we are greeted by the peace and serenity that this house gives us. The morning we use it to see the property, over 5000 square meters are all fenced and arranged on various terraces, decorated with terracotta pots and small palm trees. I know you don’t need a whole morning to visit this space, but remember, we decided to enjoy every little detail and nuance.
I would immediately move here, perhaps because, from the first time I set foot there, I not only felt at home, but I imagined my life here, transforming this property into a splendid B&B.
We pause at the entrance of the garages where some vineyards climb the canopy. Having a vineyard near the house was an ancient habit, in fact under its foliage the summer is more beautiful to be refreshed.
Here we visit two large garages, the cellar containing the wine produced last autumn and a large multi-purpose room, currently used as a laundry room.
This room with large windows would be suitable for convivial moments with guests, but no one forbids making it a place for family celebrations that could be moved here to live, already, because I have not yet told you that the property consists of three distinct Good sized apartments.
Now I show you the apartment that I would choose as a master, yes, because I adore houses that overlook the garden and allow children, dogs and cats to enter and leave the house without difficulty.
We do not enter, however, from the splendid entrance through the half-moon window but from the portico of almost 40 square meters, which will become the place to have the main meals for most of the year.
Inside, the living area corresponds to the entire length of the porch and so, in over 50 square meters we find the living room with the inevitable fireplace, a furnished wall bookcase, the dining room which leads to the adjoining kitchen, where instead of paintings we find large windows showing the pleasant surrounding hilly landscape. Intrigues a living room door that apparently does not lead to any room; behind it there is a spiral staircase that connects the three floors of the house, allowing you to move around the building without going outside.
The sleeping area is very distinct and consists of two double bedrooms: one with a walk-in wardrobe and a windowed private bathroom with shower and bathtub and a second bedroom currently used as a study, as well as the second bathroom also with a window and a bathtub.
On the two opposite sides of the house, external stairs lead to the two small terraces which lead to the apartments on the upper floor, those that in my imagination I have already transformed into the rooms of my B&B, but which at the moment are two separate living units. Organized one with living room, kitchenette, bathroom and double bedroom and the other with living area with fireplace and open kitchen, two bedrooms and bathroom both overlooking the beautiful terrace currently shared between the two units, but easily divisible.
Before letting you enjoy the visit in peace, I show you a small building, a 40 sq.m building with a wood canopy that can become a splendid outbuilding.
